Firmware Updates

Keeping all of your all of your electronic appliances up-to-date with the latest software and firmware is not only critical to insure the best performance of today's sophistocated technology but, quite simply, its become a habit for all of us. Whether its a new fangled cell phone, your favorite iPod or your desktop computer, part of our morning ritual is checking for updates to make sure we are running on the latest and greatest. So, why should your broadcast audio codec be any different?

At Comrex we are constantly improving our products, such as our ACCESS line of Stereo BRIC/IP/POTS codecs, to achieve better performance. We also use firmware updates to add new and powerful features that are designed to significantly enhance your remote broadcasting experience. Checking with Comrex for updates should become part of your "boot up ritual" as well. In addition to our ACCESS Updates page on our website you can also sign up for our new "Broadcast Remote Access" Product News & Info newsletter. Delivered via email, the newsletter will provide customers with information regarding product improvements, updates/upgrades and new product announcements.

In the future we will be adding additional tools to keep you informed of important news and updates such as RSS feeds for your specific Comrex product. Updating your ACCESS is incredibly easy and can be accomplished by a simple file download. ACCESS codecs can also be updated remotely by a support technician at Comrex. Comrex has released ACCESS Firmware Version 2.4 p3 for the ACCESS Portable and Rackmount. This free update offers significant enhancements for both units including more support of 3G wireless devices, significantly reduced encoding delay on the rackmount and some important feature additions. ACCESS Rackmount

ACCESS Rackmount firmware version 2.4 p3 is released and available by contacting Comrex Tech Support by calling +1 (978) 784-1776 (worldwide) or (800) 237-1776 (toll-free in the US). The firmware update can be applied by the user or by Comrex remotely. Click here for the zip file

Enhancements include:

1) Overall bug fixes
2) Allows selection of GSM-based 3G APN from pull-down menu
3) Enhanced Wi-Fi scanner
4) Signal strength icon in taskbar
5) User configurable web server and GUI ports
6) Support for PPoE (may be required for WiMax)
7) Screen Lock/"Limited User Mode" added
8) Support for USB touch screen monitor on rack
9) Stats reports total bytes sent/received per session and round-trip delay
10) Enhanced buffer manager options
11) Significant reduction in encoding delay times
