Hands-On Experience Turns UNT Students Into Professionals

North Texas Television (ntTV) is a 24/7 student-programmed and -operated TV station at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. Phyllis Slocum, who works at UNT teaching the capstone Television News Producing course among other things, serves as ntTV’s station manager.

Keeping up with technology and familiarizing students with every piece of broadcast equipment they may run into are essential parts in transforming TV students into TV professionals. Getting them out of the classroom and into the community to go live on location provides hands-on, real-time experience.
